Ok, We have about a dozen clients that are either new installs or upgrades where we have almost exclusively installed Fanvil X5S phones at. Im talking probably about 150 of these phones at this point. We havent really had a complaint with them until having a few clients requesting wireless headsets.
Scrolling through fanvil documentation and website, plantronics CS5XX (in this case a CS540) series headsets are supported when used with the plantronics APD-80 EHS cable. Ok great, we have support for a headset without being forced to use a lifter, which it just so happens that the most recent client will NOT use a lifter at all because of their hardcoded hatred for them.
The problem is I cannot for the life of me (and the other 3cx techs at my company also have failed) at getting the headset + cable + phone to operate as intended. The button on the headset should be able to answer the phone if it is ringing, and if it is not ringing it should go off hook, and if it is off hook it should hang the call up. Simple, thats how a lifter functions because it is essentially using the handset.
Unfortunately what ends up happening is the button on the headset only seems to toggle the audio on the phone/headset port (as seen on the phone screen), but it does not do anything for call pickup or how a lifter style will function. In order to use the headset I am having to press the headset button on the side of the headset, then answer the call on the phone, and most of the time the audio is good on the headset.
This is with 3cx version 15.5 fully updated, and also with some not so updated servers like a client on 14. This is with fanvil using out of the box firmware, 3cx server provided firmware anywhere from 1.2.5, 1.4.4.2, etc... The settings on the plantronics base are at the default as when I called plantronics about this issue they said EHS will only work on A setting and they cant comment on the fanvil side as they havent tested it, but if fanvil says it works then it must work (after all, they said it on the internet so I believe them... lol)
Am I missing something? I know there are some settings in the actual phone's webui that affect headsets but havent been able to find the right combination (and not worry about a reprovision wiping them out.) Does anybody have this exact phone + headset + ehs cable combination working as intended and can share what phone options need to be set and/or changes to the provisioning template? (I do hate how any changes to the template throw up the whole unsupported flag, even as something simple as changing the background image to the client company's logo)
