I had set up a 3cx system for another company I support. It worked just fine. I'm trying to configure a new system and using a Fanvil X5U phone on a hosted StartUP. The company has less than 10 users that will need phones. When I have the phone started up it just goes to a screen where I select my language which is English. I can then get to the web portal of the phone. I see on 3cx it says the phone should ask for a user id and password but it's not. I need to get this configured and my error seems to keep being the same no matter what I do. Sip Register Failed. Any pointers?

I have the Fanvil X5U... how do I determine if it is the V2. There's a difference? If so I'm confused because I copied and pasted that and purchased it online so. It seems weird that the X5U would be different than the X5U-V2 where as only one of them would be able to be used as a router phone. That all being said we did not set up an SBC on-site as this is going to be very minimal. They will have at most 4 users. Currently only two phones are configured on the running PBX system. I'm trying to migrate that to 3cx

Thanks for the reply.

To identify if the Fanvil is a V2 capable of being used as a router phone, check the back of the Ip phone for the sticker that states the model below the model number, and you will see Rev: B-Pro. If so, you can provision this IP phone as a router to connect it to one of the extensions and then use it to provision the others as normal phones behind it to your 3cx start-up.

If it is not a V2, it will state Rev: A, for which you will need a separate 3cx SBC to provision the IP phones.

Hi, Ive just done this myself and it was quite easy. I have the same phone, version 1. Have a look on the back on the phone and it should say X5U Revision A which I assumed meant V1 of the phone. I added the phone in 3CX and set the provisioning method to STUN remote. making sure to put the correct MAC address in as well. I rebooted the phone and when finished, it asked for a login. I put the ext number, in my case, 100, and then the voice mail pin. Then it did the rest for me!

Otherwise I have also done this by installing a 3CX SBC on site, also easy.

Please note that stun provisioning is neither an option or supported with startup, you need an sbc!

What is working please? IP Phones provisioning as remote stun to 3cx startup?

Thanks for the reply.

I do have a X5U V2. I have done a factory reset and I'm still not getting the prompt for username and password. I do have that information copied into my machine I'm just not sure where it needs entered since the phone is not actually asking for it. All of the lines show SIP 1 SIP 2 SIP 3 and SIP4. Even after performing a factory reset it doesn't prompt me for a username/pw.

Hi leeContracting

Can you check this guide and ensure that the steps are being followed:https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/fanvil-x3-x5/#h.2xub9hfvs4dw

Also make sure the firmware is the correct version:

Well it was working up until recently. I am currently having an issue with my provisioned phone is connected but It cant receive or make calls. Is this because of what youre talking about or is it a different issue?

Fixed! Was an issue with the SIP provider.
