Fax extension answers but nothing happens??

There really isnt anything in the Cisco to change, just whether fax ced detection is on....but more importantly from the debug i dont think this has anything to do with that...i think 3cx is routing the call correctly to the fax extension 888...but then nothing? you can see the call just terminates.....

debug from the cisco at the time of the call.....

Just did the other test which you suggested (which rules out the cisco 3102), I setup an accound on voipfone and sent a fax to it...you can see the 3CX answer the call and send it to the 888 fax extension, but then nothing....it is like it isnt doing the handshake / accepting the fax....are we certain the 2 line free version with the fax server installed actually works??

VoIP Call Decoder: G711u VoIP Call FAX: No

I'm wondering if this is significant?

Are you trying faxes from only one machine, or have you tried sending from others? Could it be a sending machine incompatibility problem? Trying to send a too high of a speed? Just a guess. What about sending from a fax machine on 3CX (an extension dialing 888)?

I can't say with certainty, since I've never used the feature, sorry.

I dont think so because I used the voip provider (which meant no Cisco 3102 involved) and got the same result. Just tried dialling the 888 extension from another extension and it disconnects you....??

Just to make sure this isnt a problem with the license....is there a way to get a temporary test license for the commercial edition so that I can test the fax?

Yes, you should have received an email, when you submitted your info, when downloading 3CX. That email contained a Demo Licence code which will unlock all features for testing, but only allow two concurrent calls instead of four.

yes i did and have done that....so that means that the faxserver is working in the free version then? have tried everything but cant seem to get this working. it just simply disconnects the call when you ring extension 888, same if you ring it from another extension on the pbx. have tried from a voip provider and also via the 3102.....no joy....anybody know what is going on from the debugs, it all appears to connect correctly but then disconnects the call?

Are you POSITIVE your IP is being registered at your VOIP provider correctly? This is exactly the same issue I had, and that was the problem. And, FWIW, dialing 888 from an internal extension disconnects me as well.

yes...because i get the same problem when the call comes in via a pstn gateway....

just on that point about registering the ip properly what did you need to change etc?

just triple checked this by changing the ip address, and it made no difference....it looks like from the call setup that the fax machine is not answering and moving to the next stage of call setup from the call control log?
