Before I begin, I acknowledge the fact that Fax is outdated and as old as the dinosaurs (much like myself), but I have a requirement to need it right now to assist troubleshooting a client's fax machines that have all stopped working and getting every one together to test is almost impossible.

Anyway, to the point at hand.

I have a limited amount of DDI's and wanted to know if there's any way you can access the 888 Fax Server within 3CX without the need to have a DDI attached? I've tried a Call Flow Script dialing my main number and having an option to divert to it, but the call immediately disconnects when selecting the option. Dialing internally direct from within the system works, but via an external number it ain't having it.

Does anyone know of a workaround?

Thanks in advanced,
Dinosaur, aka Rob

Hello Rob, note that you need to route a DID number to the Fax server otherwise it cannot proceed receiving the Fax.
This is also documented here.
I do understand that Fax is an old technology (also a dinosaur here) however answering a call and transfer to the Fax extension will not work.

Hi Theodoros, Many thanks for getting back to me.

I understand that to receive an external fax you must have a DID number, it was my hope to have it as a hidden option on my IVR and dial something like 01xxx3xxxxx,0 so it would pause 2 seconds and then route to option 0 which would send it to the fax saving me from having to purchase a further DID.

But if it can't be done, it can't be done.

I appreciate your help.

I'm afraid this is not an option.
