Hi,

Version 16 hosted.

I have a physical fax machine, that I am connecting to the 3CX system using an ATA.

I can connect it as a regular extension, but if I try to create a fax extension and connect it to that (which I presume is the correct thing to do), the registration fails:
; Reason: Credentials don't match, check that authorization-ID and password match the ones in extension settings

I have checked the credentials, and tried different sets of credentials.

The fax/ATA will register using the same credentials, as long as I create a normal extension.

Any suggestions?

Hi Ross,

What type of ATA are you using? Please note that for this to work the device must be local to 3CX, in the same subnet and/or locally routed subnet (including site to site VPN)

Hi, we are using the VOIP port on our VDSL modem. The 3CX server is not local, it is hosted in the cloud.

The Fax machine connects fine as a normal extension.

Are you saying that even though 3CX supports extensions on a non-local subnet, the same is not true for a fax? This doesn't seem right.

Yes, faxing is only supported on local ATA devices.

To use a supported ATA you will need a VPN between the two sites so the ATA appears local to your PBX.
