I've been using 3CX for a few months, and it's been working pretty well for the most part, and we are mostly happy with it. The only area where it could improve would be changing the paging behaviour. Currently, when someone makes a page, it shows the PG405, which I assume stands for PageGroupExtension405. The issue we are running into is that kids are seeing this page group/extension popup when someone initiates a page, which then allows them to run to any phone and start paging themselves. Can we please change this behaviour to pop up the user's Caller ID who is initiating the page rather than the PG405 Caller ID popping up each time? Also, adding a feature to only allow certain extensions to dial specific page groups would be really helpful and ideal.

Hi @asm-roc

As a possible workaround, this could be implemented using a 3CX CFD application. Instead of allowing users to dial the paging group directly, they would dial a dedicated CFD extension. The CFD would validate the caller's extension against a list of authorized users and, if permitted, transfer the call to the paging group. Unauthorized users would receive a message indicating they do not have permission to page.

While this would not change the Caller ID displayed by the paging group itself (which is controlled by 3CX), it could help prevent unauthorized users from initiating pages and provide an additional layer of control over who can access specific paging groups.

If you have a dedicated system, this could be a good alternative. Please let me know what you think.
