Hi

I have a customer who has just four SIP trunks on their 3CX system. It seems that if an extension is set to forward calls to an external number, any calls to this extension uses two SIP trunks for the duration of the call meaning there are then only two SIP trunks available for other calls.

Is this how the system should work? Once the call has been transferred to the external number, should this not then be dropped from the 3CX Active Calls list to free up the SIP trunks for other calls?

Thanks

This is correct, one active call for the incoming call and another one for the outgoing call.

3CX server is still handling the calls,

Hi Anthony,

I imagine you meant that it uses two simultaneous calls. If so then what @Saqqara said is correct.

The incoming call is answered by your PBX, and it makes a second call to the forwarded destination and bridges the original caller, establishing th forward.
