I am setting up temporary forwarding for a customer, and thought I could do it in the Inbound rule settings . I changed the 'Destination for calls during office hours' to 'Forward to Outside Number' and then put the number in. Oddly, when calling the DID, it still rang the ring group inside the office instead of forwarding to the outside line.
I then changed the Inbound Rule to ring a specific extension, set the outside line to the mobile number field in the extension, and finally set the extension to always forward to the mobile number while in the 'Available' status. When I tested this, it rang the outside line I initially attempted to forward all incoming calls to.
Did I miss a step during the initial forwarding to the outside line in the rule? I'm a little confused on why it didn't work at first but did work once I sent it to an extension that's always forwarding to an outside line.
Thanks!
