Dear Team

As per the 3cx FQDN it will resolve Public IP over Public DNS (8.8.8.8/1.1.1.1) and Private IP can resolve based on our Local DNS.

Is there any possibilities that even public DNS (8.8.8.8/1.1.1.1) can resolve FQDN to 3cx Private IP?

Plz let us know, if it's possible or not.

Thanks

Hi @Charles_3CX

Yeah we created DNS Zone and Host with private IP.

But when we nslookup over LAN or VPN internal DNS (Local DNS Server IP) it's resolving our 3cx Private IP.

But when we nslookup over WAN External DNS (Public DNS, 8.8.8.8/1.1.1.1) it's resolving our 3cx Public IP.

So, What's the possibility to Resolve even on Public DNS (8.8.8.8/1.1.1.1) to our 3cx Private IP?

Thanks

Why would you want to resolve queries over the wan to local ip address? how would you reach the 3cx system with an internal ip address from the wan?

We have only few particular public ip's which we need to allow only those IP's to reach the 3cx system, As they're having public DNS (8.8.8.8/1.1.1.1) and unable to resolve our private ip.

So plz advice if it's possible to make FQDN to resolve with our private ip over public DNS. but reachability will be only few public ip's

This is something that you need to on the network level/ firewall and not through 3cx FQDN IP address. You can control which traffic to allow In to your network and 3cx through your firewall.

There are also console restrictions with 3cx from where you can control which from which public ip addresses to allow access to the management console.
