FQDN entered during installation was ignored

The installer asked to provide a FQDN which I did and confirmed that it resolved to my public IP that I am using for the phone system. Even with that, the system still chose to set up the certificates and put itself on a xxx.mi.3cx.us domain name. (I chose Michigan I believe during install)

Is there any way to get it to use my own domain name that I set up?

The most likely scenarios are either standard license is being used (custom FQDN requires PRO or ENT) or you may have misunderstood the question for the local interface.
