Hello. I have an old install that is still in use, but no one was monitoring it. It's running v16 and it seems that it has not been renewing the SSL certificate. 3CX thinks that it is offline and has released the FQDN. How do I reverse this? I think I have to reinstall, but I don't see an option for that in my customer portal.

The only option I have is to switch to hosted. There is no reinstall option for self-hosted. I use lightsail.

I have a current backup. I tried creating a new install in my customer portal, but when I try to restore it says that the license information doesn't match the backup. That makes sense, but I'm not sure how to proceed.

I would like to just install fresh using my backup, but I don't see an option to do so.

Does the backup you're using include the license?

Ok, you can try making a copy of that RAR file and inside it, you'll find an XML file
look for

<license>

<licensekey></licensekey>
until

</certificate>

remove it, it should be at the very end of the file right before <mailsettings>

this is the difference I found between a backup with the license information and one without it
all the other files seem to be the same

this should make it ask you to provide a license and reconnect the FQDN

I don't think that will work, but can be wrong here. I think 3CX backups at one point did a verification and if changed, no longer matched the verified signature and wouldn't allow to be restored.

What is your suggestion on how to go about restoring a backup if there is no install option from the 3cx portal? The license is listed there in my portal, but the only option is to convert to hosted.

Can you download the installer for v18 and run it. During setup, choose the existing backup.

As in the ISO? Not from the 3cx portal? I'm hosting on Lightsail. I don't know if I have an option to use the ISO.

Shouldn't matter. If you are using a cloud provider then during setup it should prompt for restoring the backup as well.

Worse case - download the windows installer from the portal to your local PC, run through install/restore, take a new backup, upload to the cloud and restore.

I have a backup. I can still login using the IP address. The issue I'm having is that is I try to install a new instance via the portal and select restore backup option it tells me that the license in the backup doesn't match. There is no option for to install the existing license in the portal. I see it there, but there's no install option. They only thing I can do is install a new instance, but it doesn't let me restore with the backup file.

Is there some way to install to lightsail without using the portal?

I'm not super familiar with deployments into lightsail using the portal - our installs always use ec2 if using AWS and we use the marketplace image (not the old pbxexpress style options).

But if you can get into the 3cx server you can take a new backup without license key / fqdn and you should be able to use that without this error.
