With 3CX on Debian, do I have to install the FTP server on the debian machine to be able to back-up system confs from the web management console ? On the console there is an option to set a remote FTP server but it doesn't seem to work. I have tried with two different remote FTP servers.

This 3cx guide shows how to install the ftp server..
https://www.3cx.com/docs/ftp-server-pbx-backups-linux/

Do you want to backup your system confs to the same machine that your 3CX installation is on?
If so, you might as well just use the inbuilt backup engine which saves them to the file path below by default
Code:
/var/lib/3cxpbx/Instance1/Data/Backups

For remote FTP did you put the full FTP URL? Eg:
ftp://myFTPserver.com//my/file/path

Is there an error or a message when you run the backup manually or in the activity log?

Hi ,

I am trying to save a manual backup to a remote FTP server. Unfortunately I am not getting any logs on the FTP side.

I can backup to the local disk without problems

Hi @Mike99 ,

when you try to set the backup location to ftp in the management console, do you get any error?

No, I don't get any error.

So, you set the backup location to FTP without any errors. Where do you encounter a problem? And what exactly is the problem you are facing?

Can you try and put it on google also? Check if that works.
Not all ftp servers work - there are too many out there. And some have configuration options that need to be checked. Maybe your ftp is one of them.
This is an extremely important feature and it is fully working. What ftp's did you point 3CX against?

Hi Nicky,
I will attempt using google as backup location.
To answer your question, I don't get any error when I set FTP as backup location but neither do I get the file transferred to the remote FTP.

Do you have a list of tested or suggested FTP servers ?

Thanks guys,
I installed a new FTP server with the parameters as indicated on the links above and everything worked fine.

Thanks

Which one did you end up choosing?

Hi Nicky,

I used the ftp server for windows.

Thanks
