I need to verify a couple of items related to the 3CX Clients functionality.
  • Windows Client
  • Desktop App
  • Web Client
I have a customer who when using 3CX v16, had a call come into a queue
Has the need to conference in an outside interpreter service
Using the Windows Client, they would start a new call, call the outside party, enter DTMF keys to select options, let the interpreter know the situation and then conference them into the call
In the V18 new desktop app and web client, they cant accomplish this as you can't use "lines" for calls and when you conference someone in, it just adds the second call, not at the callers discretion. You also cant enter DTMF tones in an active conference.
My questions are:
What is the roadmap for the current v16 Windows client? Is it known when it will be deprecated? If so, when.
Is it on the roadmap to add the "line" functionality to the new desktop app or web client?
If so, when.
Is it on the roadmap to allow callers creating a conference using the desktop app or web client to add a second call to a conference, but control when they merge and be able to use DTMF tones prior to adding the second call to the the conference? If so when.
This is a very large system and this is a very important piece for their customer service department.

You can actually do this by making a new call, reaching the destination (go through IVR, etc) and then transfer that call to 700**EXT# where EXT# is your extension number. This will place the call in the extension's conference room where you can transfer more callers as you wish.

Nothing official yet I'm afraid.

No specific plans for this no, but we are working on the webclient/desktop app all the time constantly improving and bringing additional features to it so I do recommend searching through our Ideas section about this too: https://www.3cx.com/community/forums/3cx-ideas/

You can upvote any similar feature requests to help push them up the list.

Chris,
Thank you for the response. I did point out that they can use their individual conference rooms to achieve this, but it definetley adds additional steps to the process (this is a busy call center) and these are queue calls to they want to maintain the calls for reporting etc...
In the new Desktop app, you can be on call A, start new call B and handle accordingly, the missing piece is being able to conference call A with Call B. This would replicate the functionality of the Windows client.

To confirm, as of right now there is no set timeline to deprecate the v16 Windows client from working with the v18 system? It is no longer being updated or enhanced correct?

Ah sorry I had missed that.
