I see Gamma is not recommended for 3CX Hosted because it's IP-based not Register based, however I thought "3CX Hosted" was provided by DigitalOcean who offer Static-IP as a free option on droplets, surely this means it would work? or am I better off getting a DigitalOcean account and using the portal to set it up and manage the updates etc itself?

I asked in another thread but should have started my own,

Thanks,

Thanks, that still definitely reads like "Not Recommended" based on the risk of the IP changing unexpectedly when the two of us in IT aren't available

So it sounds like you understand the repercussions, so it's up to you to decide the risk vs reward.

Also, don't confuse the static IP on the droplet with the ability to move it. Yes you will have a static IP on the droplet. But if DO has a problem 3CX will handle moving your droplet to another region, but most likely the static IP won't be able to move. So then you will have you instance up and running in a new region with a new static IP. Registration-based trunks will just work, IP authenticated trunks will not.

Ahh, yea for something like that where there's already been an issue and they're having to migrate it to get it back up that's fine, if that's the only instance in which the IP changes then we can deal with that, basically by blaming DO for the downtime til one of us can change the IP

how quickly would Gamma's system update if we did need to change the IP do you know? Thanks

That I'd recommend asking them directly to avoid any misunderstandings.
