This help guide tells UK users to dial the Emergency Services if they want to hear their voicemail. I like what you've done with the guide, but I can't show it to any of my users because of this. In the UK the PBX defaults to 666 for voicemail.

Hi Paul. Thanks for the feedback. We've amended the content and it now says that in the case that 999 is an emergency number they should dial 666 instead, so you can now share it with your customers. Thanks again.

That's really helpful, thank you very much!

Hi,

I gave this guide to a user and they said they couldn't follow the instruction for setting a voicemail, so I checked them. On the guide is says

By phone:
  1. Dial “999”– if 999 is an emergency number dial “666”.
  2. Enter your PIN and then press “#”.
  3. Select option “9” then “5” and then “0”.
However on my 3CX (V15.5.0 ) it's nothing like that.

Unless I've taken crazy pills then it should be

By phone:
  1. Dial “999”– if 999 is an emergency number dial “666”.
  2. If a PIN is set, enter your PIN and then press “#”.
  3. Select option “8” then “0” to record a new message.
  4. Record new message and then press “#”.
Thanks
Paul

Hello @Paul Reynolds

Thank you for reporting this. The correct number sequence should be 9-8-0 so we will correct it. After the pin the voicemail menu give you an option for "*" to play or "9" for options.
There you need to press "9" and then "8" for your greeting message.

Hi, I've just checked this again and the structure is different if a PIN is enabled or not.

If PIN is enabled your instructions are right and you have to press 9 to get into the options menu (then 8>>0 to change to message)

If PIN is disabled it takes you straight into the options menu without needing to press 9. (then 8>>0 to change to message).

I know PIN Enabled is the default condition, but we often set them up without it. I don't know how you can account for this in the instructions. It would make most sense if the system menus behaved the same regardless of whether PIN is enabled or disabled.

You are correct that by disabling the PIN the prompt is different and the options are also different however this happens because the PBX behaviour is different when there is no PIN. The user guide assumes that the extension is using the default settings and is written with that in mind.
