Hi,

I have a customer using a BT-HSIPT trunk and when they call an external number e.g. a mobile, instead of their company name being displayed, it is the first line of their address. E.g. "XYZ Business Centre".

Does anyone know where this is being drawn from and how to change it? I've looked within the PBX itself and nowhere is the words "XYZ Business Centre". I've also looked on the SIP settings and can't see it there.

I have searched Google and there was a brief mention that UK phone numbers and their associated display names are held in one or more third party databases... is this true? If so is it something we can get corrected as the number belongs to the company, not the business centre (although the business centre in question IS owned by said company in this instance) they obviously want the company name to display when making outbound calls!

Help appreciated.

Hi Jack,

This is a question for your trunk provider, call them and ask about it. They can change the directory name entry for your DID accordingly, and then it may take some time for all 3rd party databases to be updated and all other telcos to display the correct name.

Hi,

I have been in touch with my provider and they said the following:

There is no mention anywhere of the name
"Acorn Business Centre " so it is not coming out
from our platform, it has to be the set up of the
mobile device. The name of any company/site would
not transfer over to a mobile device, this feature
only works with on net calls. Kindly check the
mobile set up and retest the issue.

So I have a more general question for you/the community - where do Android phones get their numbering info from? This issue is only present when calling an Android phone, not iPhones or desk phones.

p.s. for the record I have tested this with a number of different Android models on different cellular networks. I've also checked that it's not pulling direct from Google Business entries.

Many thanks

If the name only appears when calling Android phones then i suspect it might be caller ID & spam protection service. Try disabling that on a Google device and see if you can replicate the issue.

You were quite right. Do you have any idea how we get this changed?

Thanks

Glad you were able to find the cause of the issue.

Unfortunately not as i have not come across this issue before. A Google search might be more useful
