good practice for hotel phone setup

Hi,

I have some questions regarding this hotel phone setup. We will be using fanvil H5w phone. Should we do 3 digit? becuase our hotel have room like 101, 102, 103, 201, 202, 303, etc. Or is it better to do 4 digit so we can use like 6101, 6102, 6201, 6606 etc.. Is this a better way of doing it? Please advise.

Also any trick needed to not allow outside incoming call to the HOTEL room directly. Instead the operator will pick up and will transfer them.

If you think you will ever have the need for four digits, now is the time to choose that. Using four would allow more flexibility in dialing, (9+ for outside calls) and allow single digit dialing to access "services", with no digit conflicts. It may also mean fewer incorrectly dialed numbers. I've stayed at many hotels, and the majority require a digit before the room number.

Your second question, I assume, means you don't intend on using an IVR (Digital Receptionist), to allow incoming callers to access rooms directly. Simply route all calls to the reception extension.

Please also note if you are using e.g. 112 & 114 as emergency numbers, this might conflict with the Room numbers.

Always plan for the future. I've seen may posts inquiring about increasing the number of digits they use on 3CX, because their needs have changed since the system was installed. Can't remember one, where they wanted to change to use use fewer digits.
If you had a hotel over 10 stories, you would probably want to go to 5 digits.
