Gradwell SIP Trunk changes

I had an email from Gradwell today saying that they are moving services to AWS and to change the hostname which isn't a big deal but it says "G729 support is not available on this new platform." I know v18 has had some changes regarding codecs, do you foresee any problems?

Gradwell has contacted us regarding this earlier today and we will be testing the changes to see if something is affected so for now we cannot say for sure.
From a first look and the blog post you shared however it looks like you will not be affected by the migration.

Let us know if you face any issues however so we can check

Gradwell haven't included an end date for the existing service so I don't think I'll be rushing to be the first. Also surely they could just update their template with 3CX if they wanted everyone to change host or do the changes only apply to newly setup trunks? The fact they haven't done this concerns me.

3CX will be the one changing the template parameters once testing is complete so stay tuned for that. I agree with you that you should not rush to change services just yet and wait for the template update.
To their defense, they have informed us and we are working on it so it should not take long.

Do note that even after 3CX updates the template that won't change your existing trunk so assuming the hostname is all that is changing you will have to update the trunk manually anyways.
