Hi all,
Here is the setup for this customer:
- Host = AWS
- SBC (raspberry PI) on site
- 5 Fanvil X6U
- 3 Grandstream GRP2612P (these 3 phones belong to a Ring Group - simultaneous ring)
- All phones running the approved 3CX firmware
- Firewall tested and pass 100%

The issue that I'm having is that one (and only one) of the GRP2612P is getting ghost calls. I tested the network layer-1 and everything tested Ok.

Any input or ideas are welcome.

Do you have any port forwarding pointing to that phone's IP?

Or is it configured as STUN by accident?

Hi ConceptsWeb,
No, there is not PF whatsoever.
About the STUN, I just (30 min ago) replaced the phone, just in case.

Something interesting, I updated the new phone with the latest firmware: 1.0.5.48; however, 3CX made me lowered to the 1.0.5.44. I guest the latest version hasn't been fully tested by 3CX.

I'll keep you posted.

Thank you

Always use the supported version from 3CX, otherwise indeed it is not tested nor supported.

Hello,

  1. What version is your 3CX system?
  2. What version is your SBC?
  3. Are you using custom templates?
  4. Have you actually checked that there are no port forwards to that phone's IP? (make sure)

1. 18 (latest release)
2. 18.0.30
3. Yes
4. No port fwd.

I was reading in other forums (including granstream) that appears to be an issue with the GRP series. So sad, this phones should be "enterprise" ready, but seems like they are not.

Thank you.

Since you mention using custom templates, I'd highly recommend factory resetting at least one of them and then provisioning it with the 3CX default template to at least determine if this is template related.

Set all phones template to default. Same issue. There is a HUGE disconnect between 3CX and Grandstream, firmware wise. Gradnstream latest release is 1.0.5.67 (bunch of bugs fix), while 3CX is still running to 1.0.5.44.
Previous releases are:
1.0.5.45
1.0.5.48

I hope 3CX test and adopt the latest version ASAP.

The firmware's used by 3CX are actually prepared and provided by the vendor but let's not dwell on that as it may very well be unrelated to this issue.

If this happens often enough, it might be a good idea to perform a packet capture and then check the SIP INVITE to determine where it's coming from. I think the Grandstream has an option to perform a packet capture from within the UI but, if you need the packet capture to run for a long time, you might want to consider using another method to perform the packet capture such as port mirroring.

This issue has been fixed by grandstream and has been fixed since 10.0.5.67. The lastest 1.0.5.93 has also been out for about 2 months. This should be the next version that 3CX makes active. When can we get a new firmware?

Firmware version 10.0.5.67 is actually now the latest supported version for these models so I recommend giving them a shot if you have not done so already: https://www.3cx.com/support/phone-firmwares/

1.0.5.93 compatibility with 3CX has yet to be tested by the vendor so we have no ETA for it.

@Cascada can you please confirm if this case is now solved?

For customers currently running v1.0.5.93, we have now released v1.0.7.33 which fixes a few bugs (including the ringer bug).

Anyone that is running a lower version, will need to visit Grandstream's website, and follow their instructions to first reach 1.0.5.93 before they can go higher.

We decided to replace the phones; it was the only way to solve this issue. Stay away from Grandstream.
