Grandstream HT818 Fax 10 Digit Dial

Hello community members.

We've recently implemented a Grandstream HT818 ATA for fax and other analog lines using 3CX. We have successfully implemented this on the larger Grandstream model GXW4248.

We received the correct configuration from GS support and implemented.
"
1. Make sure the device has the latest firmware
2. Make sure you are able to register the device and able to make phone calls
3. Make sure the ITSP/PBX supports T.38
4. The Fax BAUD must be less than 14400, 9600, or less recommended. This needs to be adjusted on the FAX machine
5. Set FXS # --> Use First Matching Vocoder in 200OK SDP to “Yes”
6. Set FXS # --> Preferred Vocoder: choice 1: PCMU
7. Set FXS # --> Fax Mode to “T.38 (Auto Detect)”
8. Set FXS # --> Re-INVITE After Fax Tone Detected to “Enabled”
9. Set FXS # --> Disable Line Echo Canceller (LEC) to “Yes”
10. Set FXS # --> Jitter Buffer Type: Fixed
11. Set FXS # --> Fax tone detection mode: Caller or Callee

In addition, change the settings below to "Yes" under FXS #:
Disable Call-Waiting
Disable Call-Waiting Caller ID
Disable Call-Waiting Tone
"

This works using 5 digit dial, but dialing a 10 digit DID gives fast busy and an error in the 3CX logs.

I was advised to check the dial plan, which I implemented as instructed;
Dial Plan:

{ x+ | *x+ | *xx*x+| XXXXXXXXXX }


Anything else I should be looking for?

I did begin with the automatic XML provisioning file instead of manually configuring. These are the changes post automatic configuration to even have the device dial a 5 digit extension and fax settings. Last step in this troubleshooting process is to understand why the dial plan won't allow more then 5 digits though we tried forcing this.
 
I guess I'm confused because with the provisioning from 3CX, you should be able to dial all your valid numbers (so extensions, 10 digit, whatever you have configured in Outbound rules, etc) without needing any other modifications.

Also, some of your changes mentioned above is directly different from what 3CX sets. For example, Set FXS # --> Jitter Buffer Type: Fixed - 3CX specifically sets it to Adaptive.
 
You posted the GS dialplan, but as the call is leaving the ATA, that seems to be fine. Check the 3CX outbound rules. Logging in verbose and checking the activity log will tell you why the call isn't going out

Thanks for the help all. Well change the logging level from Low > Verbose and check the activity log.
 
If the 10 digits you are dialing are the same as being dialed from another extension (the works), then be sure that your outbound rules don't have restrictions limiting the rules to certain groups or extensions.
