In other IP-PBX systems, there's an option to enable a general voicemail box for the group, and it's an option that I've been requested to set up for a client, as their old phone system was capable of doing so.

It would work along the lines of when a group receives a voicemail, it activates the MWI light on the phone of the users in that group to notify them of the message, as well as showing the new voicemail in the 3CXPhone software for the users in that group (possibly with a different header to differentiate the group voicemails from the personal voicemails). When a user in that group listens to the general voicemail, it would turn the MWI light off.

I know that there's the option of sending the voicemails to an email address, but I still feel like this would be a beneficial feature to have, and would help transition users from other phone systems to 3CX.

One option is to take a look at our 3CX Voicemail Manager. If you create extension groups within 3CX, you can allow group members to see all the voicemails and interact with them (listen, download, foreword, delete, email) in oldest to newest order.

We've got around this by creating virtual extensions for shared park slots SP1 - SP5 and calling them 771 - 775.

(The easiest way to remember the code is to remember texting on an old phone and having to press the same key twice to reach the required letter? - Well, S and P are both on the 7 key, hence 77 and the number of the slot is 1 to 5).

Got the idea from here: https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/shared-parking-vs-park-orbit.48620/

This is actually a nice workaround for that issue that I've already implemented on the few 3cx systems we have. Thank you very much for that. Took me a few minutes to figure out that you can send a call to a number that is listed as simply SP1 and SP2. Works great though!

Hmmm - Come on 3CX - Not really implemented

It's implemented? Where can this be found?

Configure voicemail options for a ring group to go to a desired group. I'm using it now in v15.5 SP6. It sends all group members an email with the voicemail. Super handy for branch offices.

I'm running the same build but there is no voicemail options shown when I go to configure a ring group.

Select the desired RG as the destination for the voicemail box for extension inside the RG (in this case).

Regular extensions have the voicemail setup tab and you set up a password etc, so with this there is no options it will simply email it to everybody in the group? How about as far as setting the greeting, there is no option to manage that like there is on regular extensions.

Is 3cx ever going to sort out proper group voicemail?
what they counted as "implemented" was not what everyone was asking for.

Also loved to see that. The current implemantation is ridiculous. I could achiev the same including custom prompt with creating a dummy extension and pointing the email address to a distribution group...

But mostly my consequences will be:
No feature, no usage and recommendation of the product. Thats the only language most companies understand. Decrease their business and let them know why.

I give them a chance of some month, proving that they develop in the community, my and my customers interest, as this is my first time 3CX.

+1 shared extensions (with MWI) would solve this for most clients

Why not simply allow a vm box extension light on the phone as an option. Create a Vm only virtual extension, with custom message, name it purchasing dept. Then on the departments phones add a button for VM of "purchasing dept" extension on it. Have the light change to red if there are messages. If you press it, it calls into that extensions VM box?
