Solved GRP-2616 Not Receiving New Firmware

For the past month a GRP-2616 won't upgrade even though 3CX says a newer release is available. Rebooting the phone doesn't work. Provisioning the phone works fine.

What do I do?

- How are the phones provisioned? (LAN/SBC/STUN)
- Where is the PBX located? (on premises, or remote in cloud/datacenter)
- Is there a VPN between the phones and the PBX?

Ok since the PBX is on premises and the phones are STUN, can I assume that the phones are installed in a different location than the PBX?

In this case, the PBX https port needs to be accessible to the phone. To confirm that, add a BLF, or change the name of the extension, and go to Phones pages, select the phone and press reprovision.

If this works (the changes appear on the phone), then HTTPS must be ok. If not, then you have an issue with connectivity and the firmware upgrade will not be possible until this is resolved.

Also look out on the phone screen, you should see a small downward arrow showing that the phone is downloading the configuration.

Yes the phones are installed in a different location than the PBX.

Provisioning the phone works without issue.

Ok, and when you send the command for update, do you see the phone doing anything at all, any messages on screen or perhaps a small icon appearing to indicate that something is happening?

By the way, just to clear the phone memory, it's a good idea to reboot it before trying to upgrade (just to be on the safe side)

Hi, short question related to the Firmware for the Grandstream GRP-2616. Does anyone know when the next Firmware update will deployed for the hosted by 3cx appliances?
As I can see on the Grandstream Website, there is the Firmware 1.0.7.33 available, while on 3cx the newest is the 1.0.5.93.
Normally no timing issue, but unfortunately the 1.0.5.93 is a little bit buggy and i dont want to upgrade 70+ phones manually, so it would be nice if there will be a firmware update available via 3cx in the nearer future.

@skywaveorg you will not be able to install it from the management console because you are not on 1.0.5.93 at the moment. Download 1.0.5.93 from Grandstream and install it manually on your phones before you try installing the new version we just released. This is a Grandstream requirement - read their release notes for more info

@JohnS_3CX thanks a lot! ... the deployment and upgrade for the GRP2616 phones via 3cx Management Console from 1.0.5.93 to v1.0.7.33 ran smoothly.

Thanks for the great 3CX PBX experience and the great job of all 3CX Employees who keep the System running, the great Support and also for developing all the new features.
3CX is the best PBX i ever had to manage and administrate.

It was some issue with the phone itself. I factory reset it, reprovisioned it, and it took the update.
