Hello,

trying to add a couple of gxp 1760w using wifi to a clients network, followed all steps in reseting and upgrading firmware but still get error message that configuration fails when provisioning the phones manually

Hello,

i can access the gui of the phone, it allows upgrade of the firmware from firmware.grandstream.com but when i add the phone using stun to an extension it tells me it tells me that it can't deliver the configuration details to the phone that i would have to manually set this up using the link i was able to do this for gxp 1625 and 1620 but setting this on gxp 1760w will not work and when i try to force provision it from the gui it says loading configuration failed...

thank you.

Hello @JohnS_3CX

the problem am having is that i took the phones out of the clients network and used wired to provision this and this worked and later changed the connection to wireless this worked at the remote location but transferring this back to the client location wireless stopped working.

can i configure using wired and change back to wireless retaining the configuration done with wired connection.

We do not recommend that for quality and stability, but if the customer wants to use them on WiFi then it has to be set up manually after the phones provision at their site.

Our provisioning does not support the WiFi part, we only support them in LAN mode.

Hello @JohnS_3CX,

Thank you for the response, confused when you said WIFI mode as am referring to a wireless LAN available within the clients Network are you saying that 3cx can't deploy on a wireless LAN or wifi connection?

thank you

Hi @netsystems

It's not exactly a case of whether 3CX can or or can't, I will try to explain in a bit more detail:

Even though you can deploy phones in practically any environment you wish, we always recommend wired LAN to ensure the best possible chance for your phones to work as intended.

We do not test supported deskphones for wireless deployment. This means we only ensure they provision properly on wired LAN during our provisioning testing in order to add them to our supported devices list. Since no tests have been done on wireless I am not in a position to say if it will work or not.

The issue might not necessarily be the provisioning, it could be other things like the network being used may not allow them to reach the PBX, or the local DNS may not be directing them to the right address or some other 3rd issue that we are not currently aware of. In theory it could work, but you will have to do some of your own testing and troubleshooting in this case, or perhaps another member that has done this before may be able to share their experience using this model.

One good thing most modern phones have is the ability to run packet captures and generate their own logs. Personally, this is where I would start from to collect more information about what went wrong and possibly use that information to make adjustments
