Handset Query

Hi,

We have a small office with 5 extensions and just a couple of ring groups. All the extensions are currently using Yealink T19's which have been doing the job fine, until the boss has decided he'd like to know who was on the phone and who isn't, to save him answering the phone if anyone else is free.

My question is if there's a Yealink handset out there that has a display or line button that'll tell you if there's other people on the phone or the extensions are in use?

Yes, any phone that has DSS keys (or sometimes called BLF keys).

If setup correctly, using the 3CX client or 3CX web client you can see who is on the phone.

The problem comes, when I call comes in to the ring group all the extensions will flash as the system is making a call to all extensions in the group (this is in ring all). so you may not know if the person was on the call before the ring group

I recommend the Yealink T46S if you have the budget for this model. Alternatively you can use the BLF buttons and queue managed views on the 3CX client to see calls etc

The T46S is a great phone but if you are coming from T19's I imagine your budget isn't quite there. The T41s would let you have 2 line appearances and 4 BLFs whic should work if you only have 5 extensions. The next phone up in the T4x line if you outgrow that would be the T46S as @eddv123 mentioned. Otherwise the more cost-effective option would be the T27G. Another option is the Snom D785 if you are on v16. It's a new phone so not a lot of history with 3CX but it's a very nice looking phone and has a seperate LCD area for the DSS/BLF key presentation which I like.

@cobalt yes quite a jump but I really find it the best phone out of the Yealink range (I even prefer it over the T48 and Android phones).

When you think about the cost savings the 3CX offers you against other PBX brands it does mean in some cases that you can provide a better specification phone - I guess it depends purely on who the competition is at the time.
