Help: Problem forwarding to outside number

Good afternoon,

We are evaluating 3CX using the Free edition.
We need to be able to forward calls to an outside number (ie. Cell).

To implement this we have the main menu set up using a call attendant. When the caller pushes "1" they are sent to a different call attendant that gives them the option to push "9" to ring a cell phone. When they push "9" they are forwarded to a new extension that is set to forward all calls to an outside number. In the "Forward To Outside Number" field I have entered the 10 digit number I want the call forwarded to.

When I dial the extension that should be forwarded to the outside number I get a message stating that the caller is unavailable. When I have the extention forwarded to any other option (ie voice mail) it works fine. It only has a problem when forwarded to an outside number.

I have tried different outside numbers with the same results.

What am I missing here? Is there a certain dial string that needs to be entered?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you trying to dial out on the same line the incoming call is on?

I finally figured it out.

I had set my dial out rule to apply to extensions 1-1000 and my line was extension 1000.

Guess I better start using more caffeine or getting more sleep. :shock:

I had set my dial out rule to apply to extensions 1-1000 and my line was extension 1000.

Sir if you don't specify in outbound rules the extension, then the rules applies to all not to nobody. So if you want the rule for a line to be used to dial out, to apply to all just don't write anything in the extension field in the outbound rule.
And don't forget when you are entering the number of the cellphone you want to forward to under the extensions forwarding options, to add infront of the number, the outbound rule that the call will use so that our system will know how it will dial out (through which line of gateway/provider)

So if you number was 111-111-11 and your outbound rule was 9 then in the phone forwards to outside number you should enter 911111111 for the call to be made..
