All partners and customers using IP-based SIP carriers can now use Hosted by 3CX, our fully managed hosted solution. We’ve enabled over 100 IP-based providers, available with their templates inside Hosted by 3CX. This makes the transition to our hosting service even easier than before!

Why registration-based is the preferred option[/HE...

Excellent news :)

I do not see amazon chime connector in SIP trunk provider in 3cx hosted but present in on premise self hosted version.

@Billychu as I can see Amazon Chime is listed at the US section on the hosted by 3cx instances. R you sure you are checking on the correct hosted pbx ?

Last week I converted from on prem v16 to 3cx hosted v18. Because I could not find Amzn chime connector as one of the sip trunk providers in the list, I canceled 3cx hosting and went back to on prem again. After I found out from the forum that 3cx hosting didn't allow ip based sip trunk as 3cx host prefer registration based registration.
Unless they just allowed it couple of days ago as I see the article blog is 1/21/22. I requested 3cx to cancel my hosting subscription and refunded the $50 for the hosting.
Please confirm that I am wrong as I would like to have 3cx host with Amazon chime connector. I can only check again if Amzn chime connector there or not if only I still have 3cx host instance but I don't at this time.
Much appreciated for confirmation.

For all those reading this thread, please ensure you have read the blog post and understand the risks of fixed IP trunks with hosted installs - be it hosted by 3CX or even private cloud. In the event of an IP change (which can happen if the machine on which the instance runs breaks down and gets moved to another cluster) your SIP trunk will stop working. Getting back phone service will depend on how fast you respond and your provider updates to the new IP again.

@Nick Galea yes understood. When that happen, just go to AmznChime-->Termination-->input the new ip address under Allowed Hosts list-->save.

@Billychu for your case it pretty easy but from our side we have to see the bigger picture here, not only one provider who has a portal.
There are providers that don't have portals like yours and to change the Public ip address is not
that straight forward and has to be done via call to their support department.
Yes this is up to the user to choose the correct provider but this also depends on the charges and other factors.
So based on this, 3CX supports fully Registration SIP Trunks ( though a very big list available ) in order to have a smooth experience with no downtime and not have to struggle at all.

So, just to clarify, this means that if we want to move our v16 on prem 3cx system that uses Twilio to a hosted v18 system using Twilio we can now?

@ssteelman yes that’s correct!!

Awesome! We are going to use our own system as the guinea pig basically, we have a couple we are thinking about moving to hosted - we all use the 3cx mobile apps so no phones to worry about. Fingers crossed it goes nice and smooth. The others have IP phones, some remote STUN, some on the same LAN as the on prem device.

Hi Experts,

I have limited options on my SIP trunk, I want to select an IP-based SIP trunk for my 3CX which is hosted by 3CX. Appreciate it if you could provide some advice. (Current 3CX Version: Version 20.0 Update 5 (Build 551), Type: 3CX Hosted)

@ACL do you use a dedicated 3cx hosted machine or are you using the SMB Free?
Does your FQDN end in " xxxx.3cx.cloud "?
Because on a dedicated one, you see the list below on S,G and as I can see you have limited options
so most probably, its not dedicated one.

Yes, my FQDN end in " xxxx.3cx.cloud ".

Does FQDN end in " xxxx.3cx.cloud " means using SMB free one, not the dedicated one? Let' say I'm using the SMB free one, does it means that I cannot select an IP-based SIP trunk?

@ACL yes this means that you do not have a dedicated PBX hosted by 3cx.
With this setup, you can not choose the Trunk of your preference.
Get a new license key, spin up a machine on your side or spin up a Hosted by 3cx machine
and then you may choose a Generic Trunk and set it up as you want.
