I am quoting on a hotel installation. I am trying to build a solution with 3CX and 160+ analog phones. One hurdle is, they currently have a console phone at the front desk and they are being quoted by the competition on a new IP Console phone. The specific model being quoted is a Mitel 5540 IP Console.

Has anyone had any experience with providing a hotel front desk solution? Considering the Mitel is IP based, Is there even a remote chance it would work with 3CX?

Thanks,
Chris

It depends if it talks SIP or not, I believe Mitel have their own proprietary protocl (MiNET) but not sure if this is legacy or not, check the signalling protocol used.

With that being said, if it does talk SIP then basic registration and calls would be possible but manual configuration would be required for anything else.

What functions are they using, on that particular set, that requires the Mitel phone? Perhaps it could be duplicated in another manner.

They can receive multiple calls on the switchboard. They enter wake-up calls. They also toggle the MWI on the analog phones to let the guest know there is a message.
