Hello, what steps do I need to take to get an unsupported model phone to work with 3CX? Do I need to define a custom provision? If so, how is this done? Thank you for your help!

By the way, I'm running the Debian version of 3CX. The phone I'm trying to get working is a Mitel 5224.

what is your setup - is the 3cx server on the same network or connected via site to site vpn.

if the above, You setup the extension within 3cx - you do not add any phone setup.

access the phone gui, and enter the following info into the sip setup - extension number, user I’d , user password and sip server into the required fields

if you make any mistake, check the 3cx blacklist as the Device may have been blacklisted

unsupported device can only be used for basic features and located same Lan or VPN as it is virtually same Lan

As Mitel 5224 seems to be very old model , you should buy new supported phones to avoid wasted time and unfixable problems if it occurs

if you want to try , have found this user guide from mitel if this can help

Agreed, more trouble than its worth especially when you can get some very low priced phones now from Yealink, Grandstream etc.

Other option is USB headset and use the web client.

I manually provisioned a couple of Mitel sets (not sure if exactly the same model number, but they look similar) a few years ago. The set had a GUI which made it fairly straight forward. Basic calling seems to work just fine.

I highly recommend using supported phones, we tried setting up some unsupported phones and it turned into a massive headache. I would say go for either replacement phones or use the web softphone. or app on a mobile device :).
