When I first installed 3CX for Mac I'm not sure what I did but the switchboard was clearly there for a day. Now I can't figure it out, as on my PC's there's an icon at the bottom of the soft phone for switchboard, but on Mac there's no such icon. I've gone through all the menu options, I cannot find anything about how to open it to view who is on a call. I'm the only admin in the company as well so definitely not a permission issue. It's strange as it 100% was there the first day I installed as I think it opened with 3CX the first time I launched it, but since closing it I haven't been able to figure out how to get it back.

Below screenshot shows all the icons I have:

The switchboard is no longer included in desktop apps.

You'll need to use the Webclient.

Windows and Mac Apps are not really recommended, it's better to move everything on Webclient !

Hi,

If you take a look at our changelog, you will note this feature was discontinued in V16 of the client.

We now recommend users to utilize the web client for this feature.

Okay thanks I'll try the web client. We never used it before since when we first tried it it didn't seem standalone and was just controlling the desktop app. Bit disappointed though as a desktop program is much more preferable to using a web based interface. Surprised such a huge change was made without the app prompting or letting us know as this is going to impact a ton of my users.

3CX slowly moved to the Webclient, improving it in each patch and giving up the win app..

There are pros and cons since you can use google integration, chrome extensions, softphone integration.. But yeah, I found it way more user friendly than the software

Hi,

I can work as standalone. Please make sure you selected Web client mode instead of your Desktop client or deskphone by using the drop down menu:

Is the WebClient replacing the soft phone or just the switchboard portion? I just showed my users this yesterday and they were not happy having to use the web client. I tried it yesterday and I missed a few calls as I kept closing it by mistake when working on other things. I use Safari and any time I log into the web client it shows a thing saying to enable desktop notifications, and then shows a screenshot from Chrome showing you how which doesn't seem to work on Safari, so when someone calls I hear it ringing and have to try and find the tab it's on.

Definitely disappointing though as having a dedicated app running on your taskbar is always way easier than having it in a browser. We work in IT so most of us end up having many browser windows open with tons of tabs on each one, so it is an impact to productivity having to hunt to find the tab with 3CX just to make a call.

The 2 users I showed said they will just not update their 3cx soft phone then if it means the switchboard will go away.

Yes, it's replacing the softphone and moving forward new features and functionality will be added.

The currently supported browser is Chrome (for full compatibility) and this is why you see the screenshot as such.

I understand that it may not be easy to switch if you are used to the desktop client for a while now, but as the Webclient gets more and more features, eventually you will be able to do everything there.
