Hi, I am trying to workout how do you change the 10000 in the SIP registration I need to change it do a different number?

Call or Registration to xxxx has failed. sip:10000@xxx.xxxxx.com:5060 replied: 404 Not found; from IP:xxxx:5060

I am trying to get round this 404 error. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Craig

This is the default number assigned to the SIP trunk in 3CX, they start with 10000 and make their way up 10001,10002 etc.

Why do you want to change this ?

Hi Craig,

This is the internal number of the trunk and cannot be changed.

Note that changing it will not resolve the error any more than deleting the whole trunk would.

It might be best if you describe what issue you are facing when that error appears and see if you can assist you with it.

Hi both, thanks for your replies. I am looking at moving away from our hosted provider / expand the functionality of our existing provider with Call Flow Apps. I was trying to register 3CX to a SIP extension of the hosted provider for testing. It was going well apart from not being able to change the userid.

is part of the main configuration and cannot be changed, try creating a different and play with the outbound rules, that worked for me

I read that. The few replies said outbound rules don't affect registration. I was struggling to get outbound rules to save consistently also.

maybe if you describe what are you trying to do, we can try to find out another solution!

First things first: ensure that that your hosted provider allows you to register devices other than the ones they provide. If they don't allow this you cannot register at all.

If they do allow registrations from any device/any network then you need to setup a generic trunk in 3CX and try to register it with the correct credentials. If the provider rejects the registration then they should either tell you why you are being rejected or you can run a capture and see what they reply.

After successful registration, you can then look at outbound rules.

Thanks luisolavarrieta, I wanted to look into the Call Flow Apps in 3CX. But I was trying to get it working with our existing hosted provider without moving all our extensions. I should probably just get different number.

Thanks JohnS, I can register a number of SIP clients so assumed It would be possible to register 3CX.

Technically you should be able to, so long as you configure the trunk correctly (meaning the registration sends what the provider wants)

If you know what the providers wants we may be able to tell you how to set up the trunk accordingly. Some experimentation may also help, if you look at verbose logs after the registration attempt (they usually reject you and provide a reason when needed)

Glad to hear it was resolved, you can always count on the documentation :)
