I have tried to create a personal forum user so that I don't have to use our company account. When I login, I get a message that I need to link my user in the user portal (https://www.3cx.com/blog/news/forum-login-update/).

The menu "User" is missing in our Customer Portal.

How do I create or link a personal forum user in the 3CX Forum so that I don't have to use our company account?

Hi there,

The option to add new users is only available on partner portals for the users with the role "owner".

Any new user added from there will be part of the partner account.

If you're trying to create a customer portal not linked to the partner account you can register here with your personal email to create one.

We only have a customer account. Does this also apply to the customer portal? And if so, where can I see who has the owner role?

Yes, the customer account is the same as the customer portal and this is linked to your 3CX subscription.

Basically, you can log in to the forum/customer portal using the email address registered in your 3CX subscription. As I mentioned above, customer portals don't have the option to add new users, this is only available for 3CX partners. The article you were referring to is outdated and we have implemented a lot of changes in the portal since then.

What can we do then?
We are several people manage the 3CX in our company and we don't want to share the same account for using this forum.
(Our password sharing policy also suggests that we don't share accounts. And I can't remember any other system where we have to share the same account.)
My personal account still has this warning and I can't post anything.

That warning message is because currently, you don't have a subscription linked to that new customer account. You can perhaps create a free account from your customer portal so you will be able to post in the forum. Keep in mind that specifically in the category Phone System / PBX, you can only post in the sub-category associated with the subscription you have in your customer account.

There is no "Users" menu item in our customer portal. You mentioned already that the blog post linked in the message is outdated.

Attention! To post on our forum, you must login with your customer/partner account. To link your old forum account read this blog post.

If you intend to create a new forum user (new customer account) associated with your current subscription, I'm afraid this is not possible, perhaps in the past but not anymore. Only one forum user (customer account) can be associated with a subscription.

You can create a new customer account to post in the forum, but this one will be associated with a different subscription.

I hope this clarifies the issue.

Your 2 year old blog post is https://www.3cx.com/blog/news/forum-login-update/ which is linked in the message "Attention! To post on our forum, you must login with your customer/partner account. To link your old forum account read this blog post." says I can create multiple users in the customer portal. Now you say it's no longer possible.
Why is it that a customer can only have ONE account on this forum?

Because a customer is one person and it makes sense.

Partners can create multiple users.

We will check about this article, Thank you for the heads up.

In regards to the fact that a customer can only have one account in the forum, these are our politics.
