How to prevent bad forwardings?

Our old telephone system would simply ignore if extension 123 was forwarded to 124 while 124 was forwarded to 123 (i.e. 123 <-> 124).
When this happens on 3CX, the result is one of the worst possible options: The caller gets the message: "The number you have called in invalid".
Usually these kind of forwardings are used during planned or unplanned absense. Occasionally, one of the team members forgets to set their
status to available afterwards resulting in this dilemma.
It would even help a lot, if the administrator got an email under this condition, so that we can fix this administratively.
 
maybe forward calls to a call que or a ring group.

example: sales team is all in the ring group 850, 850 calls all phones in that group, when people leave they forward the phone to that group "850"

or do nothing and just have a forwarding rule for that ext that " If I do not answer calls within:30 seconds seconds. Forward internal/external calls to: 850"

Thank you for the suggestion. Seems a bit overkill for very small teams but it looks like a feasible workaround.
