How to set internal caller ID when one person calls another?

When an employee calls another through inside extensions, our caller ID is all strange... its like long string containing a short code name for the line, colons phone numbers, etc. Is there a way to set caller ID internally to show just the persons extension # and their name like "Joe Schmo" x750?

Would we need to do this on the phone side or can we force 3cx to do that for us (preferred)?

What model phones are you using? Usually, if you use the provisioning properly it wouldn't matter what brand. Of the phones I have experience with the provisioning will create the directory file needed to display this properly. This is definitely a "feature" of the phone itself and not 3CX other than 3CX does the heavy lifting for you by creating the directory's for your model.
