HT812 issue; wondering if any one can help. Once a day my device disappears from the Phones > management console and it has to be either rebooted from its we page or switched on & off before it reappears and faxes can be sent. Is there a way to check make this happen automatically or not at all?

Where does the HT812 reside local to the PBX or remotely via VPN (supported) or remotely (un-supported) via STUN or SBC methods ?

The Grandstream device does support logging to a syslog server so I would suggest utilizing this .

It is on premises on the same network, and connected into WAN socket of HT812.

In the Phones section of Management console it is visible I am Bold black, does this mean it isn't fully registered?
IT stays the same even after following all steps and is able to send faxes!

Why are you using the WAN port?
Are you using the device for NATing?
If not - then the LAN port, In my opinion, it where the network should be connected and getting either a dynamic IP, or static from DHCP reservation.

Thanks, Craig
I did try the LAN port but it doesn't work. Even in the 3cx manual, it asks for 'WAN mac address'

I am Bold black

To answer your question, yes bold black means that your device is being picked up on the 3CX server but is not yet provisioned - this however is for standard desk IP phones mostly.

For gateways you should take this as an indication that the device can be "seen" but to provision and register follow this guide (which I am sure you already have) https://www.3cx.com/voip-gateways/grandstream-ht-fxs/

Thanks, that is the interesting bit!
I followed that guide to the dot
I can send faxes and in the system extensions I can see a green dot for the fax extension as well,
the only problem I have is that it disappears from the phones part of the console and the only way to bring it back on is a reboot, one-way or the other.

SOLVED!
well kind of
3CX team will probably work out why does it drop from the Phones section and still continues to appear on my network map.
But for now, on the HT812 Web page in the Advanced settings tab, you can down the page it has 3 settings, and Reboot daily, weekly or monthly I chose daily just before we open at work

Hello @gluetome

I would recommend either checking the Activity log at the time this happens and see if there are any failed registration attempts from the device. You could also check the same using wireshark and see the communication of the device and the PBX at the time of the issue. Is the device trying to register? If so is it failing with an error message? You could also capture the traffic after a restart and compare them to see what is wrong.
