Hyper-V Network Settings for Debian 3cx VM install

Hi All.

I wonder if you can help me out. I already manage a 3cx on premise on a Debian 9 stand alone machine, but I am also testing a Debian 9 3cx iso install on a Windows 10 Hyper-V VM, but the issue I am having is with the network side.
Please can you confirm which virtual network I need to select for this scenario, I assume it is an external virtual network (not internal or private) within Hyper-V, but I have tested both external and internal network options and the 3cx management console cannot reach the activation servers even with google`s DNS inputted and the mac set to static and a DMZ on the router (for testing purposes). I have tried the windows install of 3cx and this works straight away on the windows 10 Hyper-V platform, but it will not work on the Debian version.

Can anyone please run me through the full detailed setup of installing and configuring Debian 9 3cx iso including network config on a windows 10 Hyper-V platform please, it would be greatly appreciated.

How many nic's does your HyperV host have?
When you created the network in HyperV you should be creating an external network. If you only have one nic on the HyperV host it will share that adapter with the HyperV guests. Once you complete the install of 3cx in Debian, try to ping 8.8.8.8 or another external IP from the Debian machine. If that succeeds then you can proceed with 3cx configuration. Did you assign the 3cx Debian machine a static ip during install? Is it in the same subnet as your HyperV host? A quick diagram of your HyperV host and the basic network could help.

@i3 - Thanks for your reply. I created an external network and I am using 1 NIC so it is shared with the host. When setting a static IP during the Debian install, the Debian install runs fine, it is purely when the Debian OS reboots and tries to connect to the 3cx server to download the files, it states cannot connect check internet connection, however, if I install the Debian OS leaving the network as DHCP, both the Debian OS and 3cx installs, however the activation server is not reachable. It is very strange and I am starting to think it is the NIC causing the issue when running through Hyper-V (Bridged).
So basically, I have a standard router acting as DHCP server, I have a windows 10 machine with Hyper-V running with the Debian 3cx ISO installed. I have the virtual network set as external. I have also used DMZ to let the IP of the Debian through (for testing) to ensure no ports are blocked. Still having the issue.

When using DHCP what DNS server are you using, internal or external to your site? I.e. 8.8.8.8 (Google public dns vs. internal dns server)
