I (my customer) wants to stay with the perpetual license. And not further nagging mails please.

Hallo XXXXX ,
This is a PERPETUAL LICENSE.
You cannot transform it to anything else without the agreement of the user.

Why does 3CX wants to alienate its customers and supporting people? the 3cx PBX is a system I still would recommend, but If 3cx really wants to get a bad reputation from me you will get it.

It'll be in the T&Cs that states you must have valid maintenance to keep your perpetual status which you agreed to when making the purchase - It also states they have the right to revoke..

if you are the customer, I recommend finding a 3CX Partner to renew your maintenance before your license is converting to annual. I'm not sure what the grace period is but 3CX has given you the heads up.

I am the Partner,
And I have at least two customers happily using their permanent license without additional cost/no maintentance. Also I would object that when you call a thing permanent that smallprint which does state something different from permanent is invalid. Like you cannot call something "orange juice" and add 3% water. Then you had to call it orange-mix.

Are you sure about that?

Look, the customer is getting exactly what they paid for. As you said, they are happily running perpertual and barring any environment change it should continue to run happily for a long time. Heck there's still people running v12.

I am sure, I just looked this up, its a V15 License and still says "Professional perpetual". I dont have a problem if a customer now buys a new license and agrees to the T&C if it is made clear during installation or otherwise.

But: this is a moot discussion. lets end it. I had the hope that someone from 3cx might answer this topic, but this seems not to happen. I will ask them direct.

My reference was to your orange juice comment. Per the picture, it's not 100% orange juice, yet it's called orange juice. In the smaller print it says 'from concentrate with other natural flavors'.

Convert them to an annual plan and bake it into your monthly cost to them. They aren't alienating anyone, they are making sure that people stay up to date and secure. You are compromising your customer and not giving them the most up date system by letting them stay on an old version.

@nobody You can stay on the perpetual license. If you read the email, you would see you are given the option to do this. You will have to setup your own FQDN and other things. Go ahead and do it but please dont use 3CX for future installs.

Thank you Nick,
Good to hear that this License is really usable as advertised. The customer already has his own fqdn.
However, in the mail there are no instructions what really has to be done. I checked in the license portal, but there also are no further options to click a button "keep license as is". I will wait a few weeks then check the license status again.
Btw.: I still will support 3CX installs, and there a good arguments to prefer 3cx over other pbx, also,
as I explained before, I absolutely agree that a yearly license might change or even will be invalid if not prolonged.
But permanent means permanent in my opinion. Of course 3cx may try to push customers to prolong mainenance, but the thing which really provoked my anger was the style of the email which means: "you can do nothing else then buy new maintenance or else your license will be changed".
