Inbound Caller ID Reformat

Hi Everyone,

We are testing 3CX with Net2Phone SIP trunks to possibly begin selling our customers alongside our current PBX offering. I am trying to setup the caller ID formatting following the directions from: https://www.3cx.com/docs/cid-reformatting/

Net2Phone sends 11 digit caller ID numbers to us and I made the following format rule. But the caller ID still shows 11 digits


Any help is appreciated.

Here is the setup:
3CX Version: 16.0.619 Professional Annual
Server OS: Debian 9
Server is on premise and firewall check has passed

You receive 11 digits but what is your goal ? a 10 digits format?

As mentioned in the guide:

These rules will not rewrite the incoming “Fromisplay” value, i.e. if the call has been received with +18135910130, the display will still show this number, while the “core part” of the number to be dialed has been updated.

Make sure that your inbound parameters are configured correctly and that you are reading the number from the correct SIP field. The PBX will reformat the From: User Part so make sure you are reading the number from there.

@aws2p - Sorry, I thought I had mentioned my end goal. Sometimes I type faster than I think We are wanting to just see ten digits on the caller ID.

Is the CID coming in +1 or just 1?

@kieferschild - The caller ID only comes in with the 1. I only see the plus one on P-Asserted-Identity in the capture.

@YiannisH_3CX - It is currently defaulted to to use the From: User part.

Can you send us a screenshot of your Inbound parameters and an example of an inbound Invite (change the numbers and hide the IPs)?

I tested your reformatting patterns and it should work as you have it set up.

This is what I use, replace 501 with your area code if you want 7 digit numbers. rules 2 and 3 remove +1 and 1 from other area codes.

@3cxnub - Thanks for your suggestion. We are wanting 10 digit numbers so I tried your replace pattern of \2 and it worked.

Note: you only need a single (.*) in any given expression, any variables added after this are ignored
