I am trying to assign an inbound DID number to our fax extension, but having difficulty. I have gone to the "Inbound Rules", selected the DID I want to use, modified the "office hours" to "Send fax to" and then selected "email of extension 8998" Ext 8998 is my "3CX Fax Server extension".

When I attempt to send a fax to the DID number, I receive the following in the Server event log (on Verbose mode), and the fax fails:

Any idea how to fix this?

Does it work if you point that same DID to a regular extension. It looks like an authorization problem with your VOIP connection. I don't think it has anything to do with the Fax.

Yes, I have several other DIDs working.

This problem is something else (not related to fax). Try pointing that DID to a regular extension to check it is working.

Regarding faxes, please note that only T.38 fax can be received to e-mail, otherwise you must use a FXS adapter (like Cisco/Linksys SPA-2102/3102 and others) and fax machine (fax modem). Also extension must be defined as fax extension (not regular) in order to be able to receive faxes to its e-mail.

Regards

I had the same problem with my other DIDs. I fixed it by adding the full phone Nber in both the extension outgoing caller ID and the SIP ID fields on the extension "other" tab. This information is not on the fax extension configuration page.
