I have a SIP trunk added with 3 additional DIDs. I can get the main trunk number to route properly, but when I route a DID with an inbound rule, it forwards to the extension I want it to, but only for a split second and then it sounds like a fax machine.

What am I doing wrong?

Check the 3CX Activity log to see where the call is actually routing after ringing the extension.

It is possible that it is something (to do with your provider?) other than 3CX, that has intercepted the call.

What leejor mentioned would probably be the way to go but, if you want to check whether or not it's something on your end, you could create a new test extension, do not change any of it's configuration and have the DID rule route calls to it. Then, log into it via the 3CX Webclient and make a call to the DID that routes to it, does the same thing happen?
