The only thing that i found that looks like the issue you are having is this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319570

Check it out and try following some of the steps given, maybe it will solve it for you.

Thanks... well look, I don't have the power to play around too much. That document from 2002 does not seem to be so related to anything except for the same error message.

If I cannot install 3CX on a fresh Windows installation then something serious must be wrong. I will give it a shot on a Windows XP the next days, if it does not work there either I will give up on it.

Yeah just try not to download any updates before you try.

A fresh Windows installation with Only Framework 3.5 and that's it...

Re: Installation problem v8 (script failure)

I'm getting this issue installing v.8 on a clean XP Pro machine - Brand new HP machine fresh out of the box. Have also tried after applying current MS updates.

V7 installs fine (tried it to see if it would then allow a v.8 install - it didn't).

Note that the requirements on installer screen only show .net 2.0 - not .net Framework 3.5 - perhaps that text needs updating?

Trying to reinstall .net Framework 3.5 but clearly still something a bit screwy with the installer here.

I agree, something is really screwed in the installer (or let's say just very sensitive).

At least from my side I can say that I managed to successfully install V8 on an old XP machine. Just installed XP, ran the updates and then installed Net Framework 3.5. Did not do more and the installation went through.

Thanks mrclassic,

Just did the same. Framework 3.5 fresh from microsoft and the installation has now gone through OK.

Oddly enough i saw that it says 2.0 instead of 3.5 but when i tried to get this changed in the installer, i was told to leave it as it is.
I dont know myself what purpose this serves but... :P

Anyway is the issue fixed? Did installing 3.5 do the trick?

Yes, installing 3.5 did the trick. 2.0 would seem not to be enough any longer.

Running beautifully this morning. 8)

On my original machine (Win 2003 Enterprise), 3.5 did not do the trick. Could only get it to work on XP (with .Net 3.5)

Interesting. I'd been thinking in due course to consolidate 3CX with our other servers (presently running Server 2003) and perhaps virtualise it. I believe others have had success doing so but I might just leave it on it's own little XP box for simplicity.

Hello all -

We are just starting to test 3CX and ran into the same problem with installation failing and the event log pointing to the Wscript.shell creation error.

The system is a Windows Server 2003 R2 OS fully updated running .Net 3.5 sp1.

We tried a number of things to correct the problem including fully uninstalling all .Net versions and reinstalling .Net 3.5. We received the same result with the failed 3CX installation.

In the end the solution we found was reinstalling the Windows Script 5.7 for Windows Server 2003. You can download the Server 2003 version here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...C0-32E9-411D-A896-F2CD5EF21EB4&displaylang=en or just search on Windows Script 5.7 for your OS.

The installation went perfectly after the script reinstall.

Hopefully someone else will find this useful.

I would advise against virtualizing 3CX server, we have tried it and have had a lot of voice quality issues. We are not sure if it was related to latency in disk access or CPU/memory access, but we couldn't get it to work right. All of our 3CX deployments now run on a dedicated XP Pro machine and perform beautifully. You can build one for US$500 with sufficient specs, including XP Pro license.

Windows Server Web Edition will not allow you to run any services that are not related to IIS and web hosting.

Question.

Version 9 is available, why are you testing with V7.1?

Re: Installation problem v8

I think everyone has switched to testing with v8 in this thread, its just that the title stayed the same. Issue is not version of 3CX, it's that Windows Server Web edition only allows web/IIS applications to run (hence "Web Edition").

.Net 3.5 is a hard requirement for v.8, probably v.9 as well. It will NOT install without .Net 3.5 regardless of OS.

I had the same issue here with 3CX V9, i have .NET 4, .NET 3.5 and 3cx still presented this error when installing with IIS.

MY solution was to install .NET framework 3.5 SP1 and 3CX installed successfully.

3CX V8 and upwards does require .net 3.5 as far as i know.
3CXV10 will require .net 3.5 And .net 4.0

Hi Kustura

Why not virtualizing 3CX server it seems to work just fine? (depending on platform & server specs)
I would rather have a multi-tenent 3cx because too many vm's can turn into a admin nightmare :|

Problem downloading 3CX Phone System V 9.0 for Windows.

I have tried downloading the 3CX VOIP Phone System for Windows several times last week and this week but wasn't successful. Whenever I try installing it, it brings an error message saying ..."This achive is corrupted" or "This installation package could not be opened, contact the application vendor to verify that this is valid Windows Installer package".
I will really apreciate it if you can help me out as it is a matter of urgency.
