Solved Installing on OVH VPS

Hi Everyone,

We have been installing all of our customers 3CX systems on OVH hosted VPS servers, I set one up a few months ago using the commands from this page - https://www.3cx.com/blog/docs/linux-version-9-stretch/

Today I am trying to set up two more systems and I have been using the commands however all I get not is "unable to locate package 3cxpbx"

I came across a forum post the other day which gave the impression that this method of installation was no longer supported, is that true? I cannot use 3CX hosting as our SIP provider is not on their supported list and Azure, AWS and Google are expensive hosting platforms compared to OVH. Also I cannot upload a custom ISO to OVH to do the install.

Any advice?

Thanks but that's not how we do it, as I said we use OVH VPS not Open Cloud

As you have gathered, manually installing 3CX on a Linux machine is no longer a supported method. Apart from using the PBXExpress(in Customer portal) or the Hosting Provider's Marketplace, the only other supported method is using the 3CX ISO.

Hi Chris,

The reason is that each Hosting Provider has their own "flavor" of a Linux distribution. It is impossible for us to guarantee that our software will work equally well on every single Linux variation there is out there.

That is why we have chosen a select few Hosting Providers that we check for which we have marketplace images for some and PBX Express deployment options, as well of course as the 3CX ISO.

So, if you want to go the tested way, you need to follow along this line.

If not, use the commands if you want, but we can't guarantee that everything will work as intended. A potential complication may not appear immediately, but after a new upgrade, or when eventually you will need to upgrade to Deb10 for V18, etc.
