Installing on Windows Server 2019 RDS

We are encountering difficulties to install the app on Windows Server 2019 RDS.

Did someone manage to do it and would you be able to share us the method you followed to do so ?

Went through the same pain a few weeks ago.


On Server 2019, it's a bit tricky. Best approach is to download the latest .msix file from the 3CX portal. Additionally, you’ll need the Windows App SDK version 1.5 – and it has to be exactly version 1.5, not newer and not older. We only managed to get it working with that specific version.

First, install the App SDK. Then use a PowerShell script to deploy the .msix package either locally per user, or system-wide, so that the app gets installed into the profile of every existing user and any user created in the future as well, using the Add-AppxProvisionedPackage cmdlet.

Hello, which PowerShell script is being referred to here? Does anyone have the script handy? Currently, I can only get the 3CX softphone running as an administrator. For the user, 3CX appears, but it doesn't open.

What version of the Windows App do you have, have you downloaded the latest? Which exact version (including service pack) of windows?

Download from the 3cx portal under Downloads the latest MSIX.
Check the below links and then proceed via Via Power Shell :

Do the following then :

- WindowsAppRuntime 2.3.1 via Installer

-> WindowsAppRuntimeInstall.exe --quiet --force


- 3CX softphone MSIX made available to all users via Powershell

-> Add-AppProvisionedPackage -online -packagepath ".\3CX_20.0.1277.0.msix" -skiplicense
