High to all,

I would like to develop a dll embeded in our ERP/CRM Client (windows) which would act
as a Softofone for 3CX. I would like to register, monitor, answer, trnasfer and begin call
from inside our ERP/CRM.
Q1. As I undrstood i have to use then Call Control API. But this must run on 3CX server.
So, i have to develop a service on the 3CX client that uses the Call control API and
listens my "ERP/CRM pbx clients" ?
Q2. Using the Call Control API, can I register, monitor, answer, trnasfer and begin call ?
Q3. Is there a better way to do the above ?
Thank you in advance.

Hello,

You will not be able to create a softphone using the 3CX Call Control API. Using it you can start calls, transfer calls, etc. But the call will be established between existing extensions. I mean, you will not have the audio stream of the call... So probably this is not what you need...

Kind regards.

I concur with Ernesto, but perhaps I can expand on his suggestion. It is true that you can't build a soft phone using the Call Control API, but that doesn't mean that you can embed call control actions within your ERP system PROVIDED you have 3CX Phone for Windows installed on the client computer. Take a look at our HTTP API. That should do what you need.

Thank you all for your replies.
I admit that the term "softphone" I've used was a wrong one. I do not want to handle the audio stream. What I actually mean is that i want to accomplish the following things:
a) our ERP client to be notified that an incoming call has arrived in user's extension number and which is the caller number (so our erp client, depending on user logged in and the caller if it is known to it, will present to the user an appropriate form)
b) the user with a button on an erp client customer form to cause a dial to that customer. Of course the user will use his phone for talking to customer, not a smartphone.
c) If its possible, by using buttons inside my erp forms to be able to redirect the incoming call to another internal number, drop the call, park it, unpark it, etc .
I hope i clarified by questions this time.

You can use the 3CX Call Control API for these 3 things, but keep in mind that it runs on the server.

As Ernesto has pointed out, while it is possible to perform these call control functions using the Call Control API, that doesn't really help in your situation without some type of relay or REST API. Fortunately we offer both an HTTP API and a Relay which makes it possible to do what you need.
