We have a cloud based 3CX and have the 3CX SBC running at client locations. We have one client that wants to intercom other extensions for announcing calls and such. We enabled the dial code in 3cx, enabled paging for each of the extension, but the phones never auto answer. The phones are Polycom Soundpoint IP 335, which are not officially supported by 3CX, but I was wondering if anyone has ever tried using Intercom in a setup similar to ours. We updated the polycom config to allow auto-answer for paging, but nothing. I'm wondering if it's a feature that isn't supported using a tunnel through a SBC, or if it's a limitation of the phones themselves. Any insight is appreciated. We're running the latest version of 3CX (15.5) and the latest firmware on the Polycom's as well.

Are the phones acknowledging, in some way that there is a page, just not answering? If that is the case, then you'd have to examine the Invite being sent. Possibly compare to a call that does activate auto answer.

Hello @Jim Taylor

Please note that Intercom is not limited by the SBC so supported devices will work .I am not sure about devices that are not supported though as we haven't tested them.
Make sure that the extensions you are calling from have the appropriate right enabled and that the extensions are in the same group.
If those settings are OK then try a supported device and see if that is working.

I've read the previous articles and nothing seemed to help yet. I'm going to mess with the local config files for the phones and see if I can discover anything. The dialcode works, but it just makes the phone ring instead of auto-answer, just as if you were dialing another number. It's just a config thing in the Polycom I'm sure, just need to figure out what it might be. The rights are enabled for each extension and they are all part of the same group. Thanks for letting me know the feature is supported through the SBC; at least that factor can be eliminated as a root cause. I'll keep plugging away. I have a couple other VOIP phones on order that are officially supported; I'll see how that goes.

While you are looking into the issue and you are waiting for supported devices to arrive you can try a 3CX client for windows and see if that works. The clients do not connect through the SBC but it will help in validating that the dialcode works and that the clients auto-answer the call.
