Hello sir,

In the past I saw several discussions regarding to international call protection , but it seems that for 3CX, there's no solution for it.
Right now it's version 18, and I'd like to know whether there is a good way to protect outblound international callwith password or pin number?
If no, is it in your roadmap? Thanks.

sincerely yours,
Peter Cheng

In the meantime, the outbound rules allow several ways to restrict international (or any) calls.

If the number of extensions requiring this is limited, a rule that applies to one extension, or several, if you wish, can be created. This can require a 4 digit, or longer prefix, known only to that one user. So, if they normally dialed 901144123456789, you can require them to dial 1234901144123456789, then strip 5 digits instead of 1, before sending to your provider. Probably a good idea to change the prefix on a regular basis.

Be sure you remove any rule that allows international calls dialed in the "normal" manner.

Hello leejor,

But like previous user said, if someone looked at its call history and he will know how to dial an international call.
If 1234, in this example, is dialed after user dails an international call, and other users cannot find what you dial from the call history, it could be better.
As I know, most IP PBX vendors have implemented this feature in their PBX for a long time, why doesn't 3CX implement the feature in its IP PBX?
Thanks.

Peter

Hi @PeterCheng,

There is the Pin Protect option which you could use in this case. Note that it'll apply to all calls though, however it is the easiest implementation. You can find Pin Protect settings in the extension settings under Options.

If you'd like something more custom, you can create a CFD where users are required to enter a code before the call is allowed out. Find out more about CFD here: https://www.3cx.com/docs/manual/call-flow-designer-manual/

To expand on @VasilisV_3CX suggestion, I encourage you to take a look at our 3CX Enhanced Billing Codes tool. It implements precisely his suggestion.

However, we take his suggestion several steps further. When you create a billing code (you could call this an access code), the CFD looks at any restrictions placed on the code and will potentially reject a call if it does not meet the restrictions assigned to the code. So, one code may allow international calls and another does not. We also provide scheduled automated reports on calls placed by account code. Reports are sent to the owner of the code (department manager for example), and global managers.

To place a call, the user dials "8" for a prompted process ("9" for a expedited process) where the user is asked to enter their account code, then the desired phone number. The account code is validated, and the phone number is evaluated to determine if it is permitted, and then either rejects the call (with an accompanying explanation while the calls was rejected), or it connects the caller to the requested number.

While this tool was originally created for companies who bill for their time, it will also meet your specific needs.
