With the 3CX app we can dial international numbers by using the prefix 00, (eg 00612... for a Sydney Australia number) but when using the international dial code format starting with the + symbol, then the 3CX seems to strip the first three digits ie the +61 are removed, and the wrong dialing number results.

I tried adding an outbound rule to strip the + and replace it with 00 but I can't get this to work.

Any suggestions?

As an aside, I was wanting to test this setup using a Fanvil X3U but there doesn't seem to be a way of dialing with the + sign.

Check your e164 settings and outbound rules.

outbound rules are processed from the top , down so make sure the rule is in the correct position

ok many thanks .. all solved .. I disabled E164 processing and now it all works .. so presumably this works because our Trunk provider must support both E164 and 00 dialing format?

Yes your provider appears to support both number formats
