Hi all,

Not sure where to post this.
We have a large customer who asked us to come up with a solution so their thousand guest at the time could join the system (without seeing each other on a phone book, but only see some of the guest service people) from their cell phone. Maybe using a QR code? I looked in the documentation, in call flow designer, and looked for RestAPI, but I did not find / see where / how I could automatically create thousands of users at the time, generate the QR code, print it so it can go in a welcome packet, and potentially email a personalized email.

I know I can upload users, and tweak the sent email, but is there a way to do that from an API?

Maybe start from the actual use case and work backwards? What is the end goal after they join the system? Is this just some sort of fancy walkie talkie setup?

Import would work fine if this was a one-time thing or event/occasional thing. If you have the generate welcome email when extension is created set then you could just do the bulk import and it would fire off the emails. Now I'd strongly recommend using your own SMTP server for this so you don't tripping any sort of abuse or rate limitation that might be present on the 3CX SMTP side of things.

Goal is for them to be part of the system so they can be reached while on the facility.
Not a one time thing. It's a weekly thing. 3K+ users leave. 3K+ users come in. Every week. Travel industry. They just need to be able to call whoever is on the system obviously. Just not see the list of 3K users but the guest service people.

We currently do this with another system which I would love to replace with 3CX. It's currently integrated to their home made CRM hence why I am looking for a RestAPI so we could integrate to 3CX. But from my researches, there is none.

An API of some sort is coming

Some people (@VoIPTools) have built an API as well. I could have sworn someone else recently posted a PHP one (I do have a downloaded copy), but I can't find it on the forums.

Hi,
it's such a big customer and big project that even though it sounds great, I would never go with an API which is not made from the vendor directly. Its too risky. Thanks though!

So from a straight (get them into 3CX) sort of thing a import sounds like the easiest way to go. The bigger hurdle is getting folks to install the app on their mobile devices and provision. I'd setup 2nd independent instance, dump data from CRM, import into that instance, and then nuke it/restore from backup each weekend and then rinse/repeat. Then you only need a little bit of code to massage the data coming out of the CRM into the import format. v18 is supposed to expose a new API, and I believe @VoIPTools has their own they've generated with a documented interface

Sounds great. But with our largest customer, we help them run tight operations, with continuous development and continuous delivery. Right now, we have automatized to a couple of clicks, without human intervention anywhere else. Starting playing with multiple instances, nuke it, etc. start to sound like McGyver work around :) At worse, it needs to stay the same. At best, we need to enhance automation. Might not be doable in this scenario. Thank for the chat though.

Well if the current integration is at that level then yeah, 3CX isn't there yet.
