Is is possible to cycle through SIP trunks?

Dear all,

I m running the latest 15.5 and I would like to know before I purchase a second Patton ISDN gateway if it is possible to force cycle through two different gateways.

I have 3 isdn land lines. I initially bought a 2bis4v Patton 4120 in order to test the system and now, I want to add a 1bis2v Patton to accommodate the 3rd line. Is it possible (through 3cx) to cycle between these 2, so as to take advantage of the free mobile and land line hours each number offers?

Hello Antonis,

we dont support this option via 2 separate gateways. If all lines would be connected to one Gateway you may select the Hunting Mode as followed.

The secondary gateway would be only triggered in the outbound rules if
a) all physical lines on first gateway are exhausted
b) all virtual lines on the first gateway are exhausted (by config in 3CX)
c) the gateway is offline
d) the gateway reports an error

If you live in an area with, say, two areacodes, and traffic is (for the most part), split between the two, you could have one areacode use one gateway (trunk) as first choice, with the second trunk as second choice. Do the same, in reverse, with the other areacode on the other gateway. One is always the "backup" for the other. It would take a few new rules, but this could also be broken down with with local prefixes. It all depends on your calling area requirements.

This is a great idea since the major problem derives from the mobile calling charges. If I understand correctly, I should for example, have the numbers of the two major mobile phone companies that start with 697.... use one gateway and the numbers that start with 694.... use the second, correct?

Thank you so much Stefan. So one solution to this would be to either buy a 4bis8v gateway and set the cycle from within the Patton or use the solution "leejor" suggested above.

Exactly, and after a few weeks, review the usage to how well balanced across the two providers your calls are.
