Using V16.0.4.493. Two part question here.
1. Is it possible to set an extension so that after XX seconds if there is no answer it just plays an engaged tone or some sort of busy message? (i.e. Goes into BUSY state)
I'd have expected an option under Extensions > Forwarding Rules, but there's nothing.
I've noticed under Settings > General Settings there's a checkbox for "Play Busy prompt when extension is busy" but this only plays when the extension is on another call and not configured to accept multiple calls. If a call is unanswered it just follows the forwarding rules.
Setting it to End Call just drops the call.
The best thing I've been able to come up with myself is creating a Digital Receptionist that plays "destination_isbusy.wav " from the system prompts and then Ends the call, but then even with this we're left with a "Thank you, goodbye" audio message at the end. Setting "If no input within seconds" to something like 600 gets around this, but then we're depending on the caller to hang up which isn't ideal.
More importantly though, doing things this way doesn't seem to put the extension into a BUSY state, which seems to be important because we're trying to have Blind Transfers callback the original extension when there is no answer.
Which brings me to my second question:
2. Is it possible to setup 3CX so that when a Blind Transfer is made, if the call is not answered within XX seconds, it will transfer the call back to the original extension?
I understand there's a "Transfer Back on Busy" option in General Settings for the PBX, but this only seems to transfer the call back when the extension is "Busy", not just "Unanswered".
If I set the extension to just "End Call" this also doesn't seem to put the extension into a BUSY state and the transfer does not bounce back to the original extension.
The Blind Transfer just follows through to whatever forwarding rule is setup.
Came across this old thread from a few years ago - https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/callback-after-blind-transfer-not-answered.45377/ where the users was trying to do exactly the same thing. Am hoping that perhaps something will have changed in the past few years.
Any guidance much appreciated.
