Issue Creating Ring Groups Under Load

When we our using the call control api and trying to create ring groups... we do this frequently and when doing it a lot we hit this:

System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.


at TCX.Configuration.Interop.Wringgroup.get_Number()


at RingGroupController.CreateRingGroup(CreateRingGroupRequest ringGroupRequest)




Retrying the request solves the issue, but it should not happen to begin with. Any ideas?

Use it at your own risk but 3CX will not support you. Your only hope is @VoIPTools.

Not sure how telling me its not supported nor documented helps me... thats a well known thing. And the same issue occurs in Voiptools when creating lots of ring groups under load.


If you examine the rest of logs when this occurs its clear that creating ring groups simultaneously in 3cx is broken... because it fails to commit a number for one of them because of concurrency. This is nothing to do with the api... but the underlying nature of code in 3cx.

In your scenario, could you either throttle how quickly you create the ring groups, or trap the error and resubmit? As you know, we are ultimately dependent on the 3CX code. I have not seen this problem before, but then I do not think I have ever tried to create a large number of ring groups all at once either. I can not offer a reason for the error.

Yes we even implemented locking... and retry and that helps but doesnt make it perfect... just raising it to attention of 3cx... its specifically when you create a ring group without a ringroup number specified so there is reliance on it issuing the number.
